A no make-up weekend...

This weekend, we cozied up inside to endure what will hopefully be one of the last cold weekends we experience for a while. The overall theme?

Lazy.

I didn't even apply make-up on Saturday. Instead, I embraced the coziness (smallness) of our house and the fact that we were all in it together. I drove my kids crazy with my camera, drove Cody crazy by asking him to hang more shelves, and picked up our basement play room only to watch it get destroyed again just 10 minutes later. I said goodbye to April with prayers for a better summer than the last... and excitement for what's to come. Because there is always more to come.

...while the boys napped, I sunk into our couch, made a good dent in the book I really don't want to finish... and added to my ever-growing 'pinning' collection...

...while I vegged on the couch sans make-up... Cody installed the new light fixture above me. Our previous one decided to quit working altogether, and my husband doesn't really appreciate mood lighting quite like I do...

...we played a lot this weekend. We built airplanes out of Lego's, watched two Chipmunk movies and learned our numbers on our cash register.

...we ate this weekend. Pasta in a Vodka sauce. Lemon Dill Chicken. A pit stop for McDonald's ice cream.

...we attended the annual spring football game. Everyone else watched #17 win the quarterback battle. I watched my kids run up and down the Dome steps a dozen times...

...we cuddled... and laughed... a lot.

"All done, Mommy?!"

My view from my desk this week? These beauties thanks to some fabulous co-workers...

Happy Monday!

Happiness... (A Photo Challenge)

Linking up with The Paper Mama for this week's photo challenge...

Happiness is...
One of the first Spring days...
A gorgeous evening at the end of a work day...
Snacks on the deck while Daddy fires up the grill...
And watching your two-year old "cheese" for the camera...

A Brandon habit...

So as not to forget what made my children unique at every stage of their life, let me now document Brandon's latest Brandon-ism.

...He likes to line things up in a perfect little row.

It started out with arranging all of his toy cars in a perfect line. Over and over again.

...Now it's... everything.

Jaden thinks it's funny to come along and move things out of order once Brandon has completed his work... just to see if Brandon will notice and give him a reaction. Such a big brother thing to do.

{Pay no attention to the sloppiness of his wardrobe in these pictures. This was his second outfit of the night after dumping a whole bucket of water all over himself.}

I love my boys!

Happiness is...

Not on a quest to find happiness... just on a quest to highlight it.

...a Friday morning visit to Starbucks. My laptop, people-watching and drinking my favorite cup of java while checking off items on my Outlook task list.

...one nice night in between cold and rainy. Shrieks of delight at the park when my toddler gets to the bottom of the slide, throws his arms out to his sides and says "Mommmyyyy!!!"... then runs toward me for a  tackling hug.

...a lunch date with my hubby. 30 minutes of one-on-one time... and Chinese food.

...an awesome new book to add to my Nook collection. So good, I don't want to keep reading it for fear of finishing it all too quickly.

...an approved PTO request... and thoughts of a week-long vacation over the 4th of July. Fireworks, family BBQ-ing, the kids' first trip to Adventureland... and a visit from a lifelong Oklahoma friend...

...a little boy who refused to take his Saturday nap unless he was in Mommy's arms.

...a Scentsy delivery. White Sands, Satin Sheets and Hazelnut Latte...

...a freshly baked batch of Scotcheroos...

...little boys in Panther jammies...

...being able to go to bed on a Sunday night with no dread for the Monday morning to follow... because you enjoy your job that much.

Have a good week everyone!

Friday Photo Dump

Listen earnestly to anything your children want to tell you, no matter what.
If you don't listen eagerly to the little stuff when they are little, they won't tell you the big stuff when they are big,
because to them all of it has always been
big stuff.

There's something fishy going on here...

This week we welcomed three new additions to our family.

That's right folks, we got fish.

A trip to Walmart this past Saturday for some flowers ended in disaster when Brandon threw the mother of all screaming fits in the middle of the store because he did NOT want to walk away from looking at the fish in the fish tanks. We left the store... without any flowers. (And without any fish to speak of).

Fast forward 24 hours to nap time on Sunday. Me on the couch. Cody on the computer.
Me: "What are you looking at over there?"
Cody: "I think we should get the boys some fish."

He wasn't kidding.

By the time the boys woke up from naps, Cody had purchased a small one-gallon tank and filled it with three new fish. Surprise!

The boys are loving their new routine of feeding the fish "breakfast" every morning, and we struggle to pull them away to eat their own breakfast as they stand around watching the fish devour theirs. It never ceases to amaze me how the simplest things can bring these kids so much joy.

Brandon: "Eat, fishy! EAT!" (Repeat... repeat... repeat).

I'm finding myself quite taken by them, too and have a new routine of going into the boys' room during the noon hour every day... just to make sure they're all still alive and swimmin'. ;)

We still have yet to name the fish officially... although Jaden did request to name one of them Papa Bob. I'll keep you posted...

{I still don't have my flowers.}
