One of our bucket list items from our vacation time a couple weeks ago was to hit up the beach and make some sand castles.
It may not have been a beach along the Florida coast, but it's five minutes from our home. And I do believe you can have just as much adventure at home as you can in faraway places.
And let's be honest. The kids don't care how clear the water is or how white the sand is. As long they can splash, discover, build and make memories.
And we all had a lot of fun together. Cody prefers this kind of swimming over the chlorine kind, and the boys both absolutely loved making creations in the sand.
We built a moat for our castle... and then took turns sitting in it...
Jaden took to the water without any problems, and Brandon loved staying closer to shore, splashing and finding unique rocks to decorate his castle with.
I have lots of memories from this beach. My days in high school and sand volleyball and teenage boys flirting with teenage girls. And just to our right, there was a group of high-schoolers enjoying their final days of summer with flirtation, water football and cheerleading stunts in the lake. Some things never change.
They were so excited... their first "sea weed!" ;)
Making sand angels...
Rinsing the sand out of his hair. :)
