...those last few days of nice weather. We're already missing you, Fall.
...even Lucy misses having the windows open...
...homework hour. Jaden prefers math, as reading is like a chore for him. Brandon? The opposite. His preschool teachers sent home progress notes a couple weeks ago. All good things on his report card, but one thing they told us he's ready for is learning to read by himself. He's all about it and loves doing his "reading homework" while Jaden has to do his.
...Jaden's first UNI basketball camp. He gets to perform the skills he learned on the court at halftime of this weekend's first home game for the Panthers. He's pretty excited.
...dates with this boy... Barnes and Noble is so fun during the holiday season. (And I might have gone a little overboard with their school book orders this month. Not sorry about it).
...just this. World, meet Brandon. Lover of coloring and Ninja Turtles and car tracks and Lincoln Logs and Lego's and reading and make-believe and being an absolute goof ball. He's got spirit, how 'bout you?
...the start of a new tradition. Each boy gets to pick out just one new ornament for their bedroom Christmas tree each year. The only rule is that it has to tell the story of who they were that year. That way when they are older with families and trees of their own, they will have a collection to share that showcases their childhood, their interests and their memories. Jaden, of course, chose a football. Brandon, a Frozen ornament. (Obviously. Except they were all sold out of Olaf. Of course).
...my husband hunts a lot. The boys are fascinated. (Blue gloves courtesy of the hospital the night baby Ivy was born. They wore them around the house pretending they were super hero gloves. Until they handled dead ducks with them. Then they were made to throw them away).
Lots ahead... 'tis the season.
