There's something special about evening time in the summer. It's the time of year when bedtimes aren't quite so important, daylight lasts longer, sunsets have more meaning and everyone seems to want to savor it, knowing when Fall rushes in, there's a long and dark winter to follow. We cherish our summer evenings, our family suppers on the deck every night, especially when Daddy comes up for just that hour to eat with us before heading back out to work. We don't have to worry about homework or making sure kids are rested for school the next day. And there's no worry of cabin fever or boredom. We stick to our normal routines but don't rush through them - bath time starts later, story time gets pushed back and little to no TV is watched, depending on how tired and sweaty the boys are after a day of daycare and swimming!
Our summer nights usually include the pool, a park, a night on the boat, or baseball practice of some sort. We're usually so busy with activity that on those rare nights where we do just stay in and watch a movie, it's actually time that's needed for rest and recharging!
Last week was absolutely beautiful with temps generally in the 70's, and we enjoyed some beautiful evenings. Jaden starts baseball in a few weeks right up until school starts and this seemingly endless supply of summer nights is going to come to an end before know it.
We spent a night at the park and despite the obnoxious rap music coming from some older boys and their modern-day boom box, we had some fun. It's so funny - when Brandon is extra happy, he also becomes very photogenic, requesting pictures of himself!
Jaden spent his time at the park rocking out to the rap music and riding his scooter around. Dare I say he's actually starting to outgrow playground equipment? He'd rather have a ball in his hands!
We spent an absolutely beautiful evening on the boat one night...
The boys took turns "rowing," we slowly cruised right by a prancing deer, played a game of convincing Brandon there was a real crocodile in the lake (that was all Cody), watched fish jump out of the water right beside us and enjoyed the sky in all its glory. Sky over water pictures has to be one of my favorite things to photograph. No filters here... just God's beautiful handiwork.
I have more to share but am going to be enjoying vacation time with family for the rest of the week. Have a wonderful 4th of July everyone!
