"a portrait of each of my children, once each week, in 2015"

Jaden: This boy is on a streak. He had his third football game this past Saturday and scored his third touchdown - once again at the start of the game after a hand off from the quarterback. My aunt and uncle showed up just in time to see it, and it was another good start to our weekend. He also had a good day at school on Friday, finding out at an all-school assembly that he was picked to be the "recess equipment leader" after having filled out a job application for that role during the first week of school. His name flashed up on the screen in the gym for all to see, and he was feeling pretty proud of himself when I picked him up that afternoon. I love that his school provides opportunities like this - where the students can take on leadership roles within their school - something that they can take ownership and pride in, but something that's not just given to them. They have to put thought into it - not just that they want to do it - but being able to put into words why they would be good at it. His job means he'll be in charge of making sure all of the recess equipment is accounted for and put away at the end of recess every day. Pretty big responsibility - no one wants to lose a basketball!

Brandon: An outdoor Saturday morning breakfast date with Mommy in our pajamas while Jaden and Daddy watched football highlights on TV to get ready for their own football game. Cody and I were at a wedding in Parkersburg on Saturday night and the mom of one of Brandon's new friends came over to tell me how much she loves Brandon and how much her daughter Sophie loves him, too! We hear a lot about Sophie - they play together on the playground during Jaden's football practices at night - and apparently Brandon charms not only the girls on the playground, but their moms, too. :)
