"a portrait of each of my children, once each week, in 2016"

Jaden: This past weekend we packed up his tent and sleeping bag, and he spent his Friday night playing and sleeping at a church sleepover. He joined the other 2nd and 3rd grade boys from his Sunday morning small group for touch football in the gym, Wii Mario Kart in the atrium, Saturday morning doughnuts and juice, and the movie Little Giants on the TV until one in the morning. No, not a lot of sleeping was done, but he had so much fun. So much fun in fact that he asked to go straight to bed for a nap as soon as we got him home Saturday morning. So thankful every day for this church of ours. What a great night for these boys to kick off their New Year with group leaders that you can just tell are so loved and respected by the boys they are mentoring.

Brandon: We recently moved the Wii upstairs since Jaden's new PS4 takes up space in the basement family room. Brandon never showed a whole lot of interest in it with Jaden typically hogging it in the basement, but now that it's in our main living room, Brandon is hooked. His favorites are Wii golf and Mario, and we've bonded over it more now that it's in the main part of our house rather than in the lower level. Brandon was so cute when Jaden left for his sleepover last weekend. As we were heading out the door, Brandon yelled, "Wait, WAIT!" -- racing up to Jaden for a big bear hug. And as I was putting Brandon to bed that night he said, "It's weird being here without Jaden. I know I say that I want a different brother sometimes, but I do love him." :)
