"a portrait of each of my children, once each week, in 2016"

Jaden: I found this ESPN jersey from when I was younger and love that it was a souvenir from the ESPN Restaurant at Disney World - and even has the Walt Disney emblem at the very bottom. How perfect that it fits you this summer as we count down the days to our own Disney vacation this fall. Summer is in full-swing for you now, and you are completely wiped out as your head hits the pillow at night. Between baseball games, UNI basketball camp and the all those trips to the pool, you are one busy kiddo but loving every minute of it. This year you have been moved up to the older group at daycare and get to venture into the bigger pool at the Falls. You love that big tube slide, and soon we'll be tackling the swimming test so that you can go off the diving boards. I've heard people count down how many summers left until their kids are out of the house, and I find myself holding my breath just thinking about it. These seasons are so special.

Brandon: Gosh, we are proud of you. You graduated kindergarten last week with flying colors, and I felt that lump in my throat all morning long as we watched you sing those precious songs, collect all those awards and then headed back to your classroom to watch your memory DVD that Ms. Kimpston put together for us. You earned awards in reading, math and leadership, got a perfect attendance certificate and free ice cream from the police department, and won your classroom's Media/Library specialist award. My little bookworm... it didn't surprise us at all. I was feeling a little sad as the school year drew to a close when thinking about saying goodbye to your teacher. We've had Ms. Kimpston for two years of kindergarten now between you and Jaden - and I jokingly asked her if she could come with us to 1st grade next year. Well, just a few weeks before the last day of school the principal informed her that she would like her to move up and teach 1st grade for the first time! You and all your kindergarten classmates get to stay together and move on with your teacher to the next level, and I'm so excited for that. We love that lady and the way she teaches and cares for you, and I feel very blessed by the plan God had all along.
