"a portrait of each of my children, once each week, in 2016"
Jaden: You and your teammates earned your first medals this weekend with a 3-0 record and a championship at the Waverly Go-Hawks Tournament. Just as with football, I love watching you play so much, knowing that this is so your "thing" and that your passion for competing beside your friends is God-given - at least for this season in your life. You were so very excited to earn this medal, and I know there's going to be a lot more of those to come for you. Your team is so balanced and talented, and you dominated every other team you played yesterday. You love playing defense and it shows, and I know Coach Jake at UNI would be very proud of you for it! You and your teammates held the other three teams to a combined 18 points total in three games - allowing the other teams to average just six points per game. While your Outlaws scored in the 30s and 40's in every game. That's some dominance! Good job, buddy. You are working hard to continue to get better and learning some pretty valuable lessons in the process - that it's not always easy, but that good things come from putting in the effort and the sweat. And no, I did not tell you to pose this way, but you're pretty proud of your muscles! ;)
Brandon: We had such a fun weekend - one that made me so ready for these next several weeks. We decorated your rooms with your Charlie Brown trees, played Saturday morning board games at Nana and Papa's, watched two basketball games under the blankets in our living rooms and watched Hallmark Christmas movies on TV - among other things. I'm ready for a very short work week and a holiday spent making memories with you. And several more games of Stratego!
