Thanksgiving Day 2016

We woke up and had an easy Thanksgiving morning just the four of us. The boys played video games, I watched Hallmark movies while getting ready, and before it was time to leave for Allison, the boys each asked if they could try taking some pictures on their own.

So - instead of relying on our tripod, I let go of my plans of a family picture and let the boys take their turns behind the lens. They don't do too bad! ;)

We headed to Grandpa Don and Grandma Alda's for our main Thanksgiving meal. I didn't take many pictures but we ate well before playing outside with Zoey - and inside with games of Stratego and football on TV.

We left Allison and headed to Aplington for a stop at Grandma Grayce's and the Ubben Thanksgiving before heading home for the night. And the night was my favorite part of our Thanksgiving.

Since Cody had plans to go hunting the next day, he asked if we could put our tree up on Thanksgiving night. So we called up my parents and had them over for tree trimming and light stringing.

We have since decided that we absolutely loved putting the tree up on Thanksgiving night and that we want to do this every year from now on. With the rest of the decorations already out, the food all eaten and no work the next morning, it was the perfect time to transition our minds from turkey to tinsel!

This year's special ornament - from Disney World, of course.

When the lights were lit and all the ornaments were hung, we turned on the first Disney World Thanksgiving TV special and reminisced over our own trip just two months earlier while snacking on leftover turkey and a half-eaten veggie tray.

We turned on the outdoor lights for the first time and admired Lucy as she found her happy place once again under the tree. I think she loves Christmas trees just as much as we do!

I caught her mid-yawn!

Another Thanksgiving in the books. Bring on all the bokeh!
