The boys woke up around 7:00 Christmas morning and waited patiently in Jaden's room for Mommy and Daddy to roll out of bed and beat them to the living room. It's a rule in our house that they don't get to see if Santa came until we're there to witness it with them. Although I'm pretty sure Jaden snuck out into the living room at some point in the middle of the night. ;)
Santa brought the boys exactly what they were both hoping for - watches for both, nerf guns for both, Star Wars Monopoly and Lego's for Brandon, and a new PS4 game and Scheels gift card for Jaden.
When the presents and stockings from Santa had been opened, we took a break with our overnight crock pot breakfast casserole, warmed up the coffee and played some Star Wars Monopoly by the tree while we awaited the arrival of Papa Tim and Nana Deanne.
I loved that our present opening was spread out from morning to night - with three different rounds throughout our Christmas day. It was an easy and slow day, with plenty of time to dive into our new gifts after each round of opening.
Papa Tim and Nana Deanne came over for brunch, we Skyped with Cassi and James in England, and the boys opened the rest of their gifts from us. A few of the favorites included Jaden's new Nike Elite basketball bag, Steph Curry clothes, Brandon's Disney Star Wars Infinity to go with the PS4, new board games, the complete set of Star Wars Golden Books, and some K'Nex and Zoob Builders to keep our boys occupied throughout the cold months.
And then there was this gem! In early December, Brandon came home from school with a letter wrapped up in decorated paper and a blue bow. He placed it under the tree amidst the other gifts and told me I was not allowed to open it until Christmas day. And what a surprise it was!
"My Christmas wish. I want you to have another baby. A girl. Love, Brandon."
And Daddy's big surprise... their first bb guns!
We spent the afternoon in our pajamas with more coffee, the Secret Life of Pets in the Blueray player, lots of PS4 play and lots of building.
These new collapsible movie night dinner trays were a surprise from Mommy, too, and Brandon loves using them for building and drawing.
Christmas night was spent at my parents' with Bud and Rita, lasagna and sparkling grape juice, and gift opening with my parents around the fire.
We still have one more Christmas to go!
