January Outlaws Update

This basketball bag was one of the best purchases we've ever made. We're definitely getting our money's worth out of it just one month later!

The Outlaws have played in a few more tournaments since my last update, and Jaden continues to improve his own game more and more. They played in Waverly a couple of weeks ago, going 3-0 and winning another medal.

This past weekend, we headed to Cedar Rapids for their biggest tournament yet - playing in four games against tough competition from top to bottom. The Outlaws went 2-2 - and managed a great comeback in their fourth game in order to get that second win. Jaden was a sore boy by the end of that weekend, and I did my absolute best to get action shots but it's very hard for me to focus on his movement and cheering him on, while at the same time trying to keep the camera steady. ;)

Look at that box out! He's been working so hard on his rebounding and did a great job this past weekend!

Though they haven't won every tournament, they've won many, and they have yet to go completely win-less in any of them. February will be a big month for these kids, and we're excited to see how the tail end of the season goes.

Brandon has been such a trooper - especially this past weekend. I've learned what to pack in his bag to keep him occupied, and I have taken advantage of Netflix's new capability to download shows and movies to your mobile devices without using up all your data!

I chuckled in our church service this past Sunday, when our pastor talked about the "middle stage" of family life -- and how we can sometimes feel like our friends and social outings all revolve around who sits by us in the bleachers! It's so true these days, but we're pretty happy with the people that make up our basketball family.

We enjoy our breaks in between games - lunches and outings in different cities - like this past weekend when we invaded the Starbucks kiosk at a Cedar Rapids HyVee in between game two and four - and watched our crew take over the Market Grille for a 10:30 lunch. ;)

And to reward everyone on this day, Summer reserved jump time at AirFx for all of our families before heading back home. I'm not sure how these kids jumped, did countless flips and played trampoline dodge ball after four intense basketball games, but that might also be why Jaden was a little sore Sunday night. ;)

It's crazy and it's a lot - especially as swimming lessons and baseball practice - and golf lessons! - all loom in the not so far off distance. But these years are short and temporary, and I am living the dream.
