"a portrait of each of my children, once each week, in 2017"

Jaden: We're in a basketball state of mind. Literally. Because it's STATE week. You and your teammates are gearing up for your first state basketball tournament this upcoming weekend, and it's about all you can think about! Getting to compete in the Iowa State practice facility. All your teammates and their families staying in a hotel all weekend. Swimming and eating and playing together. We are making so many memories, and I am soaking up every minute of it. This past weekend after winning yet another medal, we joined everyone for another late night of pizza and beers at Doughy Joey's. You are one blessed kiddo, and we are thankful.

Brandon: You wanted a Star Wars Valentine's box, and Daddy helped deliver in a big way. This Millennium Falcon box was made from scratch - one big, flat piece of cardboard from Daddy's office, a roll of electrical tape, some gray spray paint and a black permanent marker. Daddy stayed up late Friday night cutting the pieces, finding a way to make cardboard curve itself into a box, and spray painting it out on the deck at 11:00 at night so that it would be ready for you to decorate the next morning. You are thrilled with how it turned out, and this is definitely where you and your Daddy bond - Star Wars and creativity.
