A Day at Lost Island

The boys and I had fun extending our 4th of July holiday a few weeks ago, visiting Lost Island Waterpark the day after the 4th - when everyone else had gone back to work! We hadn't been to this gem located just 15 minutes from home for a couple of years, and Brandon barely remembered his first visit (nor was he tall enough to ride the water coaster back then) - so it was almost like a brand new experience for us all over again.

And we had so much fun! We arrived to the gates for park opening and didn't walk back out again until almost supper time, making it a very full day and the perfect way to round up our amazing July staycation. I am of the belief that while it is awesome to travel far from home, you can have a lot of fun and enjoyment in your own backyard, too, and these five days with them was such a treat.

Unlike a couple of years ago, Brandon was tall enough to do almost everything, and seeing as how he's our brave one, he was up for everything, too! Jaden, our much more timid and cautious child, would have been happy to start our morning off at the wave pool, but Brandon and I dragged him to the back of the park to ride that awesome Water Coaster right off the bat! Jaden was a nervous wreck as we climbed aboard our raft, almost in tears as we approached the top... but as soon as our ride came to a stop, he was ready to do it again. And again and again and again!

We had so much fun going on water slide after water slide, our favorites being the family raft ride and that fun coaster, while Brandon also loved racing us down the tummy slides, and Jaden loved the tube ride that allowed you to select your own music to listen to the whole way down! It was a like a disco in that slide!

We also spent plenty of time riding the big waves in our inner tubes, and I was one exhausted Mama by the end of the day. Even though Brandon was tall enough to ride everything, he wasn't tall enough to ride in his own tube on anything, which meant Mommy was tasked with carrying those big double tubes up all those flights of stairs over and over again all day long. ;) But I wouldn't have traded it - it was so fun to experience his first water ride thrills ride alongside him as we shared those tubes together all day long.

Looking forward to some more water rides and roller coasters in our near future before summer's up!
