A beach, a picnic and a fish

We have a favorite little spot we head to when we just need to decompress. My family knows that when the world gets to be too much, or the work week has left me overwhelmed, I need to be taken to the water. :) A few times this summer, we found ourselves grabbing sandwiches or takeout and heading to this little spot on the beach by the river. This spot is never crowded, has soft sand that reminds us of a real beach, and always has good views of the sunset.

On this particular night in May, we packed up Kaitlyn's sand toys, the boys' fishing poles, grabbed Subway sandwiches, and set up our spread on our picnic blanket and the one lone picnic table positioned on the shore. I was not expecting Kaitlyn to also get to hold her very first fishy. :)

Though the clouds rolled in the sprinkles fell and the temperatures dropped, it was a good night. Just us - the sand, the fish... and my beloved water.

May Moments

We came up - or out - for air in May. Almost two months into the pandemic, and two months from being able to see family or friends or go places, May brought us my favorite weather and opportunities to soak it up. We took lots of walks and bike rides, and did our best to explore while still having to keep Kaitlyn off of the closed down playground equipment.

A few pictures from our month of May...

We visited this quarry not far from our house for the very first time. It was beautiful in person, but we had a heck of a hard time keeping Kaitlyn out of the water!

And I had a lot of fun being able to start dressing Kaitlyn up in her cute summer clothes. She's so precious, I can't get enough of her! But Daddy's not a big fan of her short shorts. ;)

I'm just getting started with the summer pics. More to come!
