Easter 2020

Easter looked and felt quite a bit different this year. It was the year of stay at home - pandemic - shelter in place. There was no Grandpa and Grandma Alda's farm on Easter Sunday, no community egg hunts or visits to see the baby animals at Arnka Farms. The weather on Easter day was also absolutely awful - rainy, cold, dark.

But thankfully - I planned ahead. We still colored eggs, we still had yummy food, we still had a good Easter basket spread. And we still had our littlest chick to keep all our spirits up.

Kaitlyn knew no difference and soaked up every little joy like it was her first time. Because in her mind - it was!

We got a good kick out of watching her try and dye the eggs. She did not understand gentleness but only managed to crack a few in the process. ;)

On Good Friday, I set about to plan our own big backyard egg hunt. It was the first time doing this in our own yard, and we do indeed have the perfect yard for it. And then when Kaitlyn got home from daycare, she knew exactly what to do. It was like natural instinct - baby girl was on a mission for those eggs!

Probably my favorite picture of this year's Easter. They're all so lucky to have each other, and we're lucky to have them.

Easter Sunday included gifts and goodies, new toys and games, sprinkle pancakes and other yummy food, naps and cuddles... and ping pong in the living room. I bounced back and forth between feeling sad and grateful. A lot of 2020 has been like that. The two rails of life - gliding along parallel to each other.
