"a portrait of each of my children, once each week, in 2017"

Jaden: We seem to have crossed some sort of invisible line now that we have stepped into 4th grade, in which school has gotten a lot more serious and you are having to learn how to juggle a whole lot of things! Though you have had no problems fitting in at Lincoln with a whole bunch of new classmates, you are struggling through increased homework and demands on your time and schedule. Right now we are juggling a full football and basketball practice schedule every week, while also trying to study even harder for spelling tests and read all those extra minutes every night. This tends to make you a little cranky in the early evenings, and we are learning how to try and coach and mentor you through it while also relishing in all the lessons this is teaching you. Growing pains!

Brandon: One of the sweetest developments we've seen from you lately is to catch glimpses of you quietly singing along to the church songs on Sunday mornings. The last couple of Sundays you have not had Sunday school, and it has been so sweet to see you singing along with the worship band out of the corner of my eye as you sit with us during the adult service at Gallagher Bluedorn and in the gym at Orchard. You are asking for guitar lessons, and so we're going to see what we can do about that! You keep us on our toes!
