It's hard to believe it but here we are in the last full week of November, a holiday season staring us straight in the face. Rotten pumpkins being used as squirrel food in our woodsy backyard, a decor closet stocked full of Hobby Lobby and Target sacks holding a boat load of new Christmas decor just waiting to be unpacked for the first time, a week of vacation and festive plans ahead of us, Christmas gifts already being stored away and hidden from excited boys... and our very first holiday season awaiting us in this new home of ours. We have so much to look forward to - even in just the next seven days! There are the family Thanksgivings and playoff football games and Holiday Hoopla and a ladies shopping day and a couple of fun plans for just me and my boys once they get out of school. And of course - there's all the decorating yet to do. I can hardly wait.
But before we start filling this space with all things twinkly lights and and gingerbread houses, a few final pictures of this beautiful fall. It went to fast as always, but it was filled with lots of good.
//Brandon's guitar lessons, his seemingly God-given talent, and Grandma Grayce's first visit to our home - sitting in our living room and listening to her grandson play guitar just like his Great Grandpa Tako.
//A cat who loves her new digs just as much as we do. If only she understood that she'd be let outside a lot more often if she'd stop eating (and then throwing up) all the grass!
//My yearly chocolate chip pumpkin cookies. A Fall staple around here.
//And a first-time try at a new Apple Crisp recipe. It was so yummy!
//Jaden's first music concert as a Lincoln Tiger. He looks thrilled, doesn't he? ;)
//Family football watch parties at our house and our own little half time entertainment. ;)
//The first hot cocoa mugs of the season and a Saturday game night around the table.
//Soaking up the quiet afternoons when we have them. The way the afternoon sunlight pours in the big windows.
//This space and all the books that are starting to stack up, just waiting for me to dive into them deeper. So many books. So little time!
//Watching her cover herself up all by herself. This is LUCY's chair. ;)
//My favorite meals - colorful chicken veggie pasta and Potato Bacon soup and when we need something soothing and easy - grilled cheese and tomato soup.
//Brandon's love of decorating his own little space for each holiday. In the fall, it was small painted pumpkins. Now - it's paper snowflakes that he made and hung on his walls all by himself.
//A Homecoming football game that was truly a HOMECOMING for Dad - his first game back after his major heart surgery.
//One of my favorite nights of our fall. We packed the boys up in warm clothes, drove out to the Evansdale lake, sipped hot chocolate and munched on candy... and took a Haunted hay ride through the woods. The fog was low over the trees, there was a crisp yet pleasant chill in the air... and we had so much fun.
//Star Wars figurines found here and there - always ready for battle.
//Christmas toy catalogs in the mail and a night spent circling wish list items. Their lists for Santa are already complete!
//Exploring new places... and old favorites.
//Soaking up every last bit of 5:00 sunshine before daylight savings would kick in.
//Work views. We'll miss this back yard over the winter, but I also hope we get some good snow to fill it because it's the perfect space for snow ball fights, forts and snowmen. :)
//A new favorite place to eat - the boys loved the Asian food!
//How he can entertain himself for hours by dumping out all the Lego's and the cute way he likes to look up unique building instructions on the iPad.
//A UNI basketball season underway and Brandon's first time getting to watch court side with his buddy Trey!
