"a portrait of each of my children, once each week, in 2018"

Jaden: You may have opted out of trick or treating and dressing up this year, but you really got into our pumpkin carving on Sunday afternoon. I dragged you away from your video game and told you that there are some traditions we are going to continue to do as a family, no matter how old you get, and you were pretty grumpy with me. Until you had that carving tool in your hand and completed the entire pumpkin by yourself. You then said you wished you had another pumpkin to carve. ;)

Brandon: You were so excited for Halloween, as you are for all special days, and then you were completely exhausted by the time the day was over. And after all the family had left our house at the end of the night, you did something with me you hadn't done in a while. You said you wanted to cuddle. And there you and I sat curled up together for a good half an hour, watching Spooky Buddies on Netflix until you were more than ready to crawl into bed.

Kaitlyn: Of course you were oblivious to everything going on around you, but you did partake in a little bit of trick or treating from your stroller! I loved picking you up from Kathy's every afternoon this week, as she had her home so adorably decorated and incredibly festive for the holiday. Kids' Halloween crafts were hanging from the ceiling, carved pumpkins adorned her dining table, festive orange and green lights were strung all over her living room, and her house always smelled of freshly brewed coffee and newly baked cupcakes. I can tell that you just love being there, watching all the small kids play around you, but I love the way you smile at me so sweetly and welcoming as soon as you see me walk in the door.
