Kaitlyn || 5 Months

Sweet girl. How are you almost half way through your first year of life?! You've sure done a lot of mental growth this past month, and I feel like I say it with each new stage - but it's so fun to watch your personality blossom!

All about you at five months. :)

|| You are a pretty easy going little thing. As long as you're fed and allowed to sleep when needed, you don't demand much. Although you do love attention, but that's easy to offer. :)

|| You're still sleeping through the night regularly - a good 11-12 hour stretch each night! You are napping less during the day though which makes evenings a little challenging. You're ready for bed by 7pm most nights - sometimes even earlier than that. It doesn't give us a lot of play time in the evenings but we soak up what we can. And getting you out of your crib first thing in the morning? The highlight of our days. You are SO happy and eager to greet each new day, giving off the absolute biggest grins one could imagine... and after your first diaper change? You love when I stand you up on your changing pad so that you can look out over your room from up high. You look SO proud up there and seem to be saying, "LOOK AT ME, WORLD! I'M COMING FOR YA!" :) It's really the cutest thing ever.

|| You are very easy to put to bed. If you don't fall asleep during your last feeding, I just walk you into your room, turn on your essential oils diffuser, sing a few rounds of Jesus Loves Me before putting you in your crib... and you literally drift into a relaxed/sleepy state right there in my arms. Sometimes you're asleep when I walk out the door - sometimes you're still half awake. But we typically don't hear a peep from you after the lights are out. You seem to love you crib in the evenings, treating it almost as though it greets you with a warm hug at the end of a long day. But you still like to nap in the living room during the day. We need to work on that. Maybe over Christmas break. ;)

|| You are giggling more, making new "talking" sounds and still know how to work those eye brows to your advantage. ;)

|| You love your Sophie the giraffe the most but will hold any toy that's put within your reach. As long as you can get it in your mouth, you covet it. Otherwise, you toss it aside rather quickly. :)

|| You have discovered how to splash in the bathtub and have come close to rolling over from back to tummy a couple of times. Those shoulders get in the way. ;)

|| You're beginning the transition into 6-9 month clothes, depending on brand and style. You still fit into size 2 diapers, but you are growing quickly. Mommy is still nursing, but by the end of the day we usually have to add another two ounces to a bottle for you because those late afternoon and evening nursing meals don't quite fill you up all the time. You still eat oatmeal at night and have been loving it, but this week - you seem to almost be getting sick of it. We think that you'll be ready to try something new when we introduce fruits and veggies in another month. :)

|| When you do cry, we get actual tears now rather than just red face and shrieks. It's heart breaking, and your daddy can't handle it. It's just the beginning. ;)

|| Shopping online for you is my new favorite hobby, as we all feared it would be. ;) I found a new online boho baby boutique, and I foresee some beyond adorable summer-time outfits in your future.

|| The little boys at daycare LOVE you. I can barely get in the door with you in the morning before they are crowding your car seat, kissing you on the head and trying to "help" get you unbuckled. In fact, most mornings Kathy has to reign them in to give you some space. :) Daddy's already had some "boy" talks with you. ;)

|| Mommy is definitely your favorite person. Hands down. You don't even really like it when the grandparents try to hold you, though you happily give them smiles from Mommy's arms!

|| You've started playing in the exersaucer at daycare and absolutely love it. I can't wait for you to see your big present from Mommy and Daddy come Christmas day!

Having you in our home is a such a joy, punkin. And the connection I feel with you is God-given. We were meant for each other. I love you so much!

Here are just a few photos (and videos) of your past month! I will be sharing more of your Christmas-time photos in the weeks ahead. :)

...and a look back. :)
